Weston's Holiday Season Moved Up a Day. Last Year's Calendar Will Get You There Late.

Last year the Veterans Day Salute was on November 7, Symphony in the Park played on December 13, and the Rotary Run for Tomorrow was on December 7. Every one of those events is coming back in 2026, and every one of them falls a day earlier than it did last year.

Weston's recurring events are tied to a day of the week. Because 2026 starts one weekday later than 2025, a Friday breakfast stays on a Friday and a Saturday concert stays on a Saturday, and each calendar date moves back by one. A family that writes this season's dates from memory will be a day late for most of them. The weekend where that matters most is also the one where the city closes its main boulevards before sunrise.

Every Returning Tradition, One Day Earlier

Here are the four returning events the research could check against a confirmed 2025 date:

Event 2025 date 2026 date Day of week
Veterans Day Salute, Bonaventure Town Center Club Nov. 7 Nov. 6 Friday
Noche de Velitas, Gaitas y Verbenas, Weston Regional Park Dec. 6 Dec. 5 Saturday
Rotary Run for Tomorrow, Cypress Bay High School Dec. 7 Dec. 6 Sunday
Symphony in the Park: Holiday Favorites, Regional Park Event Stage Dec. 13 Dec. 12 Saturday

Apart from the date, the Veterans Day Salute looks much like last year. The YMCA of South Florida's event page lists the 12th annual breakfast for 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Bonaventure Town Center Club, presented with the City of Weston. It is free for veterans and requires registration. This year's featured speaker is Captain Charlie Plumb. The page also says the event is already at capacity, so for anyone who hasn't registered, the date change matters less than the waitlist.

One Stage Carries Most of the Season

The free city-run evenings mostly happen in one place. The Regional Park Event Stage hosts three of the city's main evening events between now and mid-December, and Weston Regional Park also hosts Noche de Velitas:

  • Moonlight Movie in the Park: Toy Story 5, Saturday, Nov. 7, 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. Admission is free, and the city asks viewers to bring chairs or blankets.
  • WestonNights Outdoor Concert with FLAVOR, Saturday, Nov. 14, 7 to 9:30 p.m. It's free, with food for sale.
  • Noche de Velitas, Gaitas y Verbenas, Saturday, Dec. 5, 5 to 10 p.m. Americas Community Center organizes it, admission is free, and no attendee registration is listed.
  • Symphony in the Park: Holiday Favorites, Saturday, Dec. 12, 5 to 6:15 p.m. The South Florida Symphony performs in a free concert presented by the city and the Weston Music Society with the Arts Council of Greater Weston.

Before November, the park gets one more evening. Chillin' with BSO is on the city's calendar for Friday, Oct. 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Regional Park Baseball Field #8, with Weston BSO deputies and firefighters. The city's listing gives no admission or registration details.

The next day, the arts calendar moves across town. Chalk in the Park runs Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Library Park with the Arts Council of Greater Weston. It's free to attend, and chalk squares are first-come, first-served. This year's theme, "Postcards from Weston," ties into the city's 30th anniversary.

The Saturdays That Stack Up

Weekday anchoring keeps each event steady from year to year. It also means events by different organizers can end up on the same day. Two November Saturdays show it.

Saturday, Nov. 7 has three events in one day:

  1. The Teresitas de María Bazar Navideño 2026 runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish, 2501 S Post Rd.
  2. The city's Kid-tacular Show Series brings Marci Poppins The Explorer to the Weston Community Center for free shows at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Children must attend with an adult.
  3. Toy Story 5 starts at 7:30 p.m. on the Regional Park Event Stage.

Saturday, Nov. 14 overlaps with an event outside Weston. The South Florida Hot Air Balloon Festival at Markham Park in Sunrise runs Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14. Gates open at 5 p.m., tethered rides at $35 per person start around 6:30 p.m., and a balloon glow and laser show begins around 9 p.m. each night. Tickets start at $19.10, and parking is paid. That Saturday, WestonNights runs 7 to 9:30 p.m. and the balloon glow starts around 9, so you would have to pick one. Friday the 13th has no city event on the Weston calendar, which leaves it as the open night for the balloons.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and the city calendar leaves it open. Weston's October 2026 calendar has no entry for Oct. 31, and its special-events list has nothing posted between Chalk in the Park and November. Other organizers have scheduled events.

  • The Broward County Library's Weston Branch on Bonaventure Boulevard has a Halloween Scavenger Hunt on Oct. 31 starting at 10:30 a.m., sponsored by Weston Friends of the Library. The library's event page has a registration link.
  • St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish has a Trunk or Treat after its 6:45 p.m. Mass that evening. The posted registration is for families who want to host a trunk.
  • For adults, The Weston Society has a Halloween party at Negroni Weston on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m. Admission is $50.

December 5 and 6: A Festival Night, Then Closed Roads Before Dawn

This is the weekend where the shifted dates matter most. Last year Noche de Velitas fell on Saturday, December 6, and the Rotary Run the next morning. This year Velitas runs Saturday, December 5, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Weston Regional Park, which Americas Community Center lists at 20200 Saddle Club Road. Four hours after it ends, the city starts closing roads around Cypress Bay High School, 18600 Vista Park Boulevard, for the 29th Annual Rotary Run for Tomorrow.

The city's race-day listing gives the exact closures for Sunday, December 6:

  1. 2 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Vista Park Boulevard is closed from Bonaventure Boulevard to Vista Grove Lane.
  2. 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. The southbound and eastbound lanes of Glades Parkway close from Glades Circle North to Saddle Club Road. The southbound and eastbound lanes of Royal Palm Boulevard close from Saddle Club Road to Bonaventure Boulevard.
  3. 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Bonaventure Boulevard is closed in both directions from Vista Park Boulevard to Royal Palm Boulevard.

During those same morning hours, the city also warns of delays in both directions on Royal Palm Boulevard between Bonaventure Boulevard and Saddle Club Road, and on Glades Parkway between Saddle Club Road and Glades Circle South, because of periodic lane closures.

The race morning draws far more than runners. The half marathon starts at 6:20 a.m., and the 5K and 10K at 7 a.m. The Commission Cup 1-Mile Health Walk for students and families from Weston's elementary schools starts promptly at 9:15 a.m. The city asks walkers to arrive by 8:30 to allow time for parking and registration, which falls inside the closure window. Schools compete for a trophy and a cash prize based on participation rate. A free Health & Fitness Festival with vendor booths, children's activities and health check-ups is open to everyone after the races, and you don't need to run to attend. According to the city, the Rotary Club of Weston's runs have raised well over $2 million for local charities, nonprofits and The Rotary Foundation since 1997. Race fees vary and are posted at WestonRotaryRun.com.

The two sources give different start times for the fitness festival. Check the race site the week of the event before planning around it.

What Isn't on the Calendar Yet

Two December traditions from last year don't have 2026 dates posted. The city's November 2025 holiday roundup listed the Weston Town Center Christmas Tree Lighting for December 7 and Chanukah at Weston Town Center for December 14. As of mid-October, neither has a 2026 listing on the city's December calendar or on the Town Center events page. That means they haven't been announced, not that they've been canceled.

Both were on Sundays in 2025. The weekday pattern behind every confirmed date on this calendar would put them on December 6 and December 13. December 6 would be the Rotary Run morning, which is how 2025 lined up as well, since both fell on December 7. These are estimates, not announcements. Until Weston Town Center posts its schedule, the only confirmed event that Sunday is the race.

You may also be marking these December dates on a listing calendar: a Rotary Run morning, a Velitas night, an open-house weekend. The Scarberry Group builds showing schedules and staging timelines around Weston's event calendar and road closures. Request a complimentary home valuation and staging consultation, and we'll help you choose dates that work around them.
